Plumpton: Galileo gelding to go hurdling

A SON of Galileo and a half-sister to Fillies' Mile winner Teggiano makes his hurdles debut in the At The Races On Facebook Maiden Hurdle at Plumpton today for trainer Gary Moore. The five-year-old Galiotto was a 1m4f handicap winner off a mark of 52 at Brighton last year, his sole win in 15 starts.

He was a 45,000gns yearling at the Tattersalls December sale in 2007 when bought by trainer Chris Wall, who trained him until this year, when he has had three starts on the Flat for his current trainer.

Coming into the race in winning form is Edgeworth, a Brendan Powell-trained son of Pyrus. Edgeworth has won four of his seven starts over 1m2f this year on the all-weather, three of those in claiming races.

From a handful of runners over jumps, Pyrus has sired two winners: Instant Pur, a Cork maiden hurdle winner in January and Har Will, winner of a Limerick bumper in July.

A son of Mr Prospector,Pyrus stood at Ballyhane Stud until his move to Spain for the 2010 season.
