Galileo mares in foal to War Front at Keeneland

KEENELAND is looking to repeat a successful formula having catalogued two Galileo mares in foal to War Front for its January Sale, two months after an in-foal daughter of the Coolmore sire topped the November Sale.

Twirl, a Listed-winning sister to Galileo's 2011 Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Misty For Me, and Up, a Group 2-winning half-sister to Group 1 sire Dutch Art, are scheduled to go under the hammer at Keeneland during the sale, which starts on Monday, January 12.

Both have been covered by Claiborne Farm's sire sensation War Front.

During last month's bumper November Sale, Mandy Pope parted with $3.9 million for the top lot Aloof, a daughter of Galileo and Cheveley Park Stakes winner Airwave offered in foal to War Front, who will command a fee of $150,000 in 2015.

A total of 1,610 lots have been catalogued for the four-day sale, which offers yearlings, broodmares, horses of racing age and stallions - with 25 set for next year's renewal.

Six-time Grade 1 winner Blind Luck is also catalogued for the sale, having been withdrawn from the Fasig-Tipton breeding stock sale last month.
