Galileo foal for Group 1 winner Elle Danzig

TRIPLE Group 1 heroine Elle Danzig gave birth to a bay colt foal by Galileo at Gestüt Wittekindshof in Germany on Sunday.

Bred and owned by Wittekindshof, Elle Danzig is a 14-year-old daughter of Roi Danzig. She was saddled by Andreas Schutz to win the German 1,000 Guineas and the Preis der Diana, and to beat the colts to land the Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis  at three.

At four she won three races, including theGroup 1 Premio Roma, in which she beat John Gosden's Handsome Ridge. She won the same race in the following season, by five lengths from the Ian Balding-trained Border Arrow.

In total, from 21 career starts she won 12 races – all but one of which was at Group level.

Elle Danzig has produced two black-type perfomers to date: the Listed-placed Galileo mare Elle Galante, who was bought by Emerald Bloodstock for 235,000gns at the Tattersalls December Sale last year, and the Listed winner El Comodin, a five-year-old colt by Monsun.

She also has a three-year-old colt by Sadler's Wells named El Django, a two-year-old Shamardal filly named Elle Shadow, and a Hurricane Run yearling colt, who was purchased by Mags O'Toole for €95,000 at Arqana last December.

Elle Danzig is due to be covered by Samum this year.
