MAHBOOBA (5 m Galileo - Sogha by Red Ransom)

Bred by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa al Maktoum in Australia

THREE weeks after Mike de Kock's Igugu lifted the roof at Kenilworth with victory in the J & B Met, it was the turn of another de Kock-trained daughter of Galileo to shine in the game Balanchine Stakes winner Mahbooba.

Narrowly defeated by First City (by Diktat) in the Group 2 Cape Verdi Stakes last time out, Australian Group 1 winner Mahbooba turned the tables on her old rival this time around thanks to a withering outside run. Reem, another Galileo filly trained by de Kock, took third.

One of 26 Group/Grade 1 winners by Coolmore'schampion sire Galileo, Mahbooba is out of triple Australian winner Sogha. She is out of a half-sister to French Group 3 winner Slew The Red and from the further family of American champion Lady's Secret.

Galileo has clicked well with Red Ransom blood before, producing none other than Igugu to a mare by Intikhab.
