Galileo Classic roll continues with Intello
COOLMORE colossus Galileo on Sunday proved once again he is the Classic sire par excellence with his son Intello landing the Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly in impressive fashion.
Just one day earlier Galileo supplied Derby winner Ruler Of The World, plus the third and fourth home Galileo Rock and Battle Of Marengo. He is also the grandsire of the runner-up at Epsom, New Approach's son Libertarian.
On Friday, New Approach featured as the sire of Oaks heroine Talent, who beat Galileo's daughter Secret Gesture into second.
Galileo's tally of Group or Grade 1 winners now stands at 34, while Intello is the seventh of those out of a Danehill mare, after fellow Classic winners Cima De Triomphe, Frankel, Golden Lilac and Roderic O'Connor, plus champion juveniles Maybe and Teofilo.
Intello is the second foal bred by his owners the Wertheimer brothers out of Impressionnante, winner of the Prix de Sandringham and runner-up in the Prix d'Astarte.
Impressionnante is out of Prix Maurice de Gheest and Prix de la Foret heroine Occupandiste, making her a half-sister to Group 3-winning sprinter Only Answer.
Occupandiste's dam Only Seule was a half-sister to July Cup winner Elnadim and Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Mehthaaf. The damline traces back to blue hen Fall Aspen, the ancestress of numerous top runners including Dubai Millennium and Harbour Watch.
