J Be K retired to stud

MULTIPLE Graded stakes winner J Be K has been retired from racing to take up stud duties at Gainesway Farm in Kentucky.

A three-year-old son of Silver Deputy and the Graded stakes-placed Valid Wager mare Major Wager, J Be K was purchased for $350,000 by Ahmed Zayat at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Calder sale of select two-year-olds in training.

He was trained by Steve Asmussen to win the Grade 2 Woody Stephens Stakes, as well as the Jersey Shore Stakes and the Bay Shore Stakes, both Grade 3 events, in 2008.

Altogether, J Be K won five of his nine starts, amassing total earnings of $440,200.

Zayat said: “I am very excited to have found the perfect home for J Be K for his new career at stud. I will be breeding my best mares to him and will aggressively support him in the sales ring and on the racetrack."

J Be K's fee has been set at $10,000.
