First Duke Of Marmalade foals hit the ground

THE first foals of Coolmore's Five-time Group 1 winner Duke of Marmalade have been born.

One is a bay colt out of the Sadler's Wells mare May Kiersey, a sister to the dual Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed Gagnoa, which was foaled last Saturday.

Pat Tobin, who owns the foal, said: "He's a real quality foal with plenty of size, scope and strength and a great colour; a good strong bay."

Last night at Coolmore Stud, Lingfield Oaks Trial third Mubkera, a daughter of Nashwan from the family of Rainbow Quest, produced a chestnut colt.

Duke of Marmalade covered 170 mares in his first season last year and those due to foal include 37 Group or stakes winners and the dams of 43 Group or stakes winners.
