Full Steam heads vibrant trade at Tattersalls

A WELL-connected filly who finished last in an incident-packed 2010 French 1,000 Guineas enjoyed her own moment in the limelight at a buoyant Tattersalls' February Sale yesterday when selling for 160,000gns.

Full Steam, out of a full-sister to Zafonic and Zamindar, had previously won a Chantilly conditions event for owner-breeder Khalid Abdulla and trainer Andre Fabre, but her racing days are over after selling to Tony Nerses, representing Authorized's owners Saleh Al-Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar.

The pair bought Blue Diamond Stud at Tuddenham near Newmarket last summer and also paid 850,000gns for Irish Oaks fourth Grace O'Malley in December.

"Full Steam is the 14th mare we have bought and her bloodline is hard to get into," said Nerses, after seeing off BBA Ireland's Patrick Cooper. "She's an excellent addition to the broodmare band but I don't know who will she will be covered by."
