Nashmiah: the fourth black-type performer produced by her dam

Lingfield Listed victory for Elusive City filly

LAST year's leading European first-season sire Elusive City was represented by a new stakes winner today, when his daughter Nashmiah landed the Listed Spring Cup at Lingfield in impressive fashion.

Soul City's victory in the hugely valuable Goffs Million race gifted the first-season sire title (by total progeny earnings) to Elusive City, but the likes of Prix Marcel Boussac runner-up Elusive Wave confirmed that the Irish National Stud stallion was also capable of throwing a top-class runner.

With the Clive Brittain-trained Nashmiah, Elusive City looks to have a live 1,000 Guineas contender. The filly, who finished fourth, four lengths behind Rainbow View, in the Sweet Solera Stakes, and third behind Souter's Sister in the Oh So Sharp Stakes last season, is the fourth black-type performer produced by her dam, Frond.

Frond is a winning daughter of Alzao and out of a half-sister to 1990 Fillies' Mile winner Shamshir. She has also produced Azolla (Cadeaux Genereux), who was Listed-placed over 1m2f in Sweden, Ridder (Dr Fong), who was Listed-placed over 7f in Ireland, and Streets Ahead (Beat Hollow), winner of the Listed Stonehenge Stakes over 1m at Salisbury at two.

Nashmiah was purchased for 30,000gns by Rabbah Bloodstock at Book 1 of the 2007 Tattersalls October yearling sale.
