French buyers prominent in Tatts early blows

MANY of the star attractions, including outstanding filly Lush Lashes, are due to go through the ring later in today's opening session of the Tattersalls December breeding stock sale, but the early action saw two lots sell for six-figure sums - both going the way of French buyers.

The first female to pass the 100,000gns mark was lot 1279, Salamon, a daughter of Montjeu who is a three-parts sister to Starfala out of a Listed-winning sister to Group 1 winners Alpine Rose and Fragrant Mix.

The Kirtlington Stud-consigned filly failed to reach the frame in five starts for Paul Cole, but buyers were not deterred and Sylvain Vidal won her with a bid of 115,000gns.

That price was surpassed six lots later when four-year-old Basanti, a winning daughter of Galileo and Prix Robert Papin heroine Ozone Friendly, entered the ring.

The mare, offered in foal to Duke Of Marmalade, sold for Robert Nataf of Horse France for 210,000gns.
