Oasis Dream colt powers to National Stakes glory

OASIS DREAM got his ninth Group 1 winner on the board on Saturday when his son Power held off the late charge of Dragon Pulse (Kyllachy) in the National Stakes at the Curragh.

Oasis Dream, who stands at Juddmonte’s Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket, at a fee of £85,000, has also been on the mark at the top level this year with Prohibit in the King’s Stand Stakes and Midday in the Nassau.

His roll-call of Group1 winners is completed by Aqlaam, Arcano, Lady Jayne Digby, Naaqoos, Querari and Tuscan Evening.

Power, who won the Coventry Stakes earlier in the season, was bred by Norelands Stud and Hugo Lascelles out of the winning Inchinor mare Frappe, a half-sister to 2,000 Guineas hero Footstepsinthesand.

Frappe’s earlier foals include Ribblesdale Stakes winner Thakafaat and winners Applauded and Quantum.

Power is trained by Aidan O'Brien for Michael Tabor after being retained by his vendor Highclere Stud for 50,000gns at Book 1 of last year’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
