Grade 1 winner Tiago to stand at Adena Springs
GRADE 1 winner Tiago is set to join his Kentucky Derby-winning half-brother Giacomo at Adena Springs Farm in Kentucky at theconclusion of his racing career.
Frank Stronach's operation has purchased a majority interest in the son of Pleasant Tap, who will continue to race in the colours of Jerry and Ann Moss.
"We are proud to have Tiago join our Kentucky stallion roster and to stand alongside his Classic winning half-brother, Giacomo," said Stronach. "Tiago has demonstrated great versatility throughout his successful racing career, with Graded stakes victories on both conventional dirt and Polytrack to his credit.
"Additionally, Tiago offers breeders significant outcross value and fits the profile of other stallions that we have enjoyed success with."
Tiago became a live Kentucky Derby hope last year following a gutsy win in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby. Although unplaced at Churchill Downs, the John Shirreffs-trained colt went on to run third in the Belmont Stakes before capturing the Grade 1 Goodwood Stakes and Grade 2 Swaps Stakes.
Tiago has won or been placed in six Graded stakes this season, his most notable success arriving in the Grade 2 Oaklawn Handicap. He is expected to make his next start in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
Out of the stakes-winning Stop The Music mare Set Them Free, Tiago hails from a strong French family which includes champions Baiser Vole, Squill and Mister Slippers.
A stud fee will be announced at a later date.
