CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE guided Shareta to a facile victory in the Vermeille, desposing of her 12 rivals and landing a record seventh success in the race for Alain de Royer-Dupre.

Always close to the pace, Shareta travelled well and was in second rounding the bend before powering clear of her rivals under minimal urging form the saddle.

Last year's Arc runner-up, when sent off at 66-1, proved that was no fluke and backed up her recent Yorkshire Oaks win to record back-to-back Group 1 victories.

Pirika travelled way off the pace in rear, but showed a good turn of foot to come through for second, with Solemia - who beat Shareta earlier this year in the Prix Corrida - taking third.

Royer-Dupre said: "She loves the fast ground and she needs a good pace to show her true worth. She has the others in trouble some way out. For the Arc we'll have to follow what happens with the ground because if the track is heavy that changes everything."

Paddy Power reacted by cutting Shareta to 12-1 (from 25), while William Hill and Victor Chandler go 10-1 (from 16).
