Former smart juvenile Sandwaki off the mark

GROUP 3 winner Sandwaki was representedby his first winner on Sunday when Wakidoun drew away by four lengths to win the 5f maiden at Wissembourg.

Wakidoun, who ran second on his debut, is one of three starters from the first 23-strong crop by Sandwaki. The son of DixielandBand was a precocious two-year-old himself, winning his first three races at two including the Listed Prix La Fleche and Group 3 Prix du Bois. The Wertheimer et Frere-homebred was also fourth behind Dutch Art in the Prix Morny.

Sandwaki stands at Haras de la Huderie in France for €1,500.

P. Bony and Mlle C. Drevillon bred Wakidoun out of the unplaced Ballidoun, a daughter of Smadoun from the further family of Listed winner Bellaboy.
