Freshman Wildcat Heir sets new record

FRESHMAN sire Wildcat Heir has set a record of 39 northern hemisphere juvenile winners in a year after his daughter Future Heiress won a maiden at Calder in Florida on Thursday.

He also equalled the worldwide record, set last year by Chapel Royal, who achieved 38 North American winners along with a winner in Peru.

By Forest Wildcat, the Grade 1-winning sprinter wasvictorious in six of his 12 starts for trainer Ben Perkins Jr and owner-breeder New Farm. He is out of the mare Penniless Heiress, a winner of two of her five starts - both at three - and is a brother to the Listed winner Forest Heir and to the dual Grade 3 winner Forest Heiress.

Wildcat Heir's first crop also includes Karmageddon and Wild Mia, both of whom were stakes winners this term.

Wildcat Heir stands at Journeyman Stud in Florida, and commanded a fee of $6,500 this year. He will be offered at the same fee next year.
