Half-brother to Pioneerof The Nile to stud

FOREFATHERS, a Grade 2-placed half-brother to last season's Kentucky Derby runner-up Pioneerof the Nile, has been sold to stand at Red River Farms in Louisiana in a deal brokered by Brett St. Amand Bloodstock. The son of Gone West will command $2,000.

Purchased for $680,000 by Ahmed Zayat at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale, Forefathers made one start for Michael Bell before switching to Bill Mott the US. Forefathers went on to run placed in the Grade 2 Jerome Handicap and Grade 2 Swale Stakes, in which he was beaten just under a length. He retires as the winner of $200,252 in earnings.

Zayat Stables have retained breeding rights to Forefathers.
