Glorious double for Footstepsinthesand

COOLMORE sire Footstepsinthesand grabbed the headlines at Glorious Goodwood on Friday by supplying two of the card's big-race winners.

Footstepsinthesand's gelded son Boom And Bust capitalised on his plum number one draw to make all the running and win the valuable Mile Handicap and later the sire's daughter Chachamaidee easily won the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes over 7f for fillies and mares.

Both Boom And Bust and Chachamaidee are four-year-olds and hail from 2,000 Guineas hero Footstepsinthesand's first crop.

Boom And Bust was bred by Duncan McGregor out of the placed Wolfhound mare Forest Call, a half-sister to Coronation Stakes heroine Balisada.

He was bought by his trainer Marcus Tregoning for 25,000gns out of the consignment of Jockey Hall Stud at the 2008 Tattersalls December yearling sale.

Chachamaidee was bred by Cheval Court Stud out of the unraced Danehill mare Canterbury Lace, a sister to Group 1 Criterium International runner-up Chevalier and a half-sister to 1,000 Guineas heroine Virginia Waters.

Canterbury Lace is out of a Group 3-winning granddaughter of blue hen Sunbittern, ancestress of Amfortas, Dubawi, High-Rise and In The Wings.

Chachamaidee was bought as a foal at Tattersalls by Camas Park Stud for 130,000gns and resold in the same ring as a yearling to Blandford Bloodstock for 135,000gns at Book 1 of the October yearling sale.

Footstepsinthesand stood at Coolmore this year at a fee of €10,000. The son of Giant's Causeway is sire of five Groupwinners, headed by Railway Stakes scorer Formosina and Nell Gwyn Stakes winner and Coronation Stakes third Barefoot Lady.
