Footsteps mare Chacha wins Lennox Stakes

Bet365 Lennox Stakes (Group 2) Goodwood 7f

Winner: Chachamaidee

5 b m Footstepsinthesand - Canterbury Lace (Danehill)

CHACHAMAIDEE showed she is still improving at the age of five with a smooth victory against colts in Tuesday's Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

The mare made it a Group-race double on the day for trainer Sir Henry Cecil after Noble Mission won the Gordon Stakes.

Chachamaidee hails from the first crop of 2,000 Guineas winner Footstepsinthesand and is the fourth Group 2 scorer sired by the son of Giant's Causeway, after Formosina (Railway Stakes), Infiltrada (won in Argentina) and Shamalgan (Darley Oettingen-Rennen).

Footstepsinthesand, who stood at Coolmore at a fee of €10,000 this season, is also the sire of Friday's Listed Lyric Stakes winner Barefoot Lady.

Chachamaidee was bred by Cheval Court Stud out of Canterbury Lace, an unraced Danehill half-sister to 1,000 Guineas heroine Virginia Waters.

Canterbury Lace is a great-granddaughter of blue hen Sunbittern and so related to celebrities such as Dubawi, High-Rise and In The Wings.

Chachamaidee, a half-sister to four-time winner Maybe I Will, was bought by Camas Park Stud at Tattersalls as a foal for 130,000gns and resold to Blandford Bloodstock for 135,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October yearling sale.
