Flying Legend joins Shade Oak  Stud roster

SHADE Oak Stud in Shropshire has a new recruit to its stallion roster for 2012: former Ballintry Stud inmate Flying Legend.

Flying Legend, now 18 years old, is an Alleged brother to
Group 2 Gallinule Stakes winner Montelimar, who did sterling service as a jumps sire by supplying Grand National heroes Hedgehunter and Monty's Pass plus Grade 1 winners including Like-A-Butterfly, It Takes Time and Youlneverwalkalone.

Flying Legend has compiled a good record himself from limited chances, as sire of 17 jumps winners from 43 runners under rules in Britain and Ireland including the high-class 11-time scorer Knight Legend.

Sir Henry Cecil trained Flying Legend - whose dam is Canadian Oaks third L'Extravagante - to win two races over 1m4f and 1m7f by wide margins.

Flying Legend will stand at a fee of £1,500.

Shade Oak Stud headline sire Black Sam Bellamy, sire of this year's German Group 1 winner Earl Of Tinsdal and promising jumpers Samain and The Giant Bolster, has had his fee increased from £3,500 to £4,000.
