Florida stud career beckons for Biondetti

BIONDETTI,  winner of the Group 1 Premio Gran Criterium for Godolphin in 2010, has been retired to stand at Woodford Thoroughbreds in Florida. His fee has been set at $4,000.

The four-year-old son of Bernardini retires as the winner of three of nine starts.

The winner of his two-year-old debut at Newmarket for Mahmood Al Zarooni, Biondetti progressed to take a conditions race at Kempton before breaking through at the top level when successful in the Premio Gran Criterium at San Siro. He signed off his juvenile year by running fourth behind Uncle Mo in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

In two starts at three, he ran second in the Group 3 Prix Messidor. He was also fourth in the Group 2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2 at Meydan earlier this year.

Bred in Kentucky by Palides Investments N.V., Biondetti was purchased by John Ferguson for $350,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Select Yearling Sale.

He hails from one of the most active families around as a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Delta Princess, in turn the dam of current champion Royal Delta. His dam is the Lyphard mare Lyphard's Delta, winner of the 1993 Nassau Stakes for Sir Henry Cecil.

Biondetii will stand alongside another former Godolphin Grade 1 winner Vineyard Haven at Woodford Thoroughbreds.
