Pivotal ex Blue Duster sells to Oakgrove Stud

UNRACED three-year-old filly Flag Day is set to join John Deer's broodmare band at his Oakgrove Stud near Chepstow after selling for 115,000gns to agent Amanda Skiffington at the Tattersalls July Sale in Newmarket on Tuesday.

The daughter of Pivotal, who was home-bred by Sheikh Mohammed, is out of the 1995 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Blue Duster and a half-sister to the dam of Fantasia.

"We'll take her back to the farm in Wales and have a think about the future," said Tim Lane, who manages Oakgrove Stud.

"She's a neat mare and the sort that would suit something like Oasis Dream. We're trying to upgrade our mares in a bid to make the stud more commercial."
