First winner for Henrythenavigator

TOP miler Henrythenavigator was represented by his first winner when Infanta Branca justified short odds for Aidan O'Brien in the 5f maiden at the Curragh on Sunday.

The filly, who was her sire's first runner when second on her debut at Cork earlier this month, was quickly into stride under Joseph O'Brien and held off the runner-up, Leitir Mor, to score by half-a-length. Lindenhurst, a first-crop runner for Captain Marvelous, ran fourth.

Bred by Strategy Bloodstock, Infanta Branca is the fifth winner out of Totemic, a Grade 3-winning daughter of Vanlandingham who produced the 2004 Group 3 Go and Go Round Tower Stakes heroine Cherokee and juvenile Listed winner Art Museum for Ballydoyle.

Henrythenavigator was a high-class two-year-old for Aidan O'Brien, winning the Coventry Stakes and running second in the Phoenix Stakes. He developed into a leading miler the following year, pulling off the Anglo - Irish 2,000 Guineas double before recording victories in the St James's Palace and Sussex Stakes.

The son of Kingmambo retired in 2009 to stand at Ashford Stud in Kentucky at a fee of $65,000 and has 112 two-year-olds to represent him this year. He is standing the current season for $25,000.
