First winner for deceased US-based sire Sunriver

DECEASED New York-based stallion Sunriver sired a first winner on Friday when Suntorious scored at Penn National Race.

Sunriver Won the Grade 1 Hollywood Turf Cup and placed the Belmont, Man o' War and Florida Derby.

He died during his second season at Empire Farm, New York, leaving 63 two-year-olds in his first crop produced off a fee of $15,000. He is a brother to multiple Grade 1 winner Ashado, who took the Kentucky Oaks and Breeders' Cup Distaff.

Suntorious is owned and bred by Hidden Point Farm in Pennsylvania and won the sprint contest by two and a half lengths.
