First winner for Australian champion Fastnet Rock

CHAMPION Australian sprinter Fastnet Rock sired his first winner on Saturday when San Cristobel won a 4 ½ f maiden by two lengths at Bendigo in Australia.
BBA Ireland purchased the Lee Freedman-trained filly for NZ$700,000 at the NZB Premier Yearling Sale earlier this year on behalf of a syndicate which includes Coolmore Stud, Demi O'Byrne andLord Sam Vestey.
San Cristobel is the second foal out of Galapagos Girl, a Group 3-winning daughter of Dehere who is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Procrastinate, the dam of Group 1 winner Laisserfaire.
Dual champion Fastnet Rock retired to Coolmore in Australia as the winner of six races including the Group 1 Flemington Lightning Stakes and Group 1 Caulfield Oakleigh Plate.
The son of Danehill is a hot favourite with bookmakers to be leading first season sire in Australia this season after his first crop of yearlings sold for a high of $600,000. He commands a fee at Coolmore of A$82,500.
