Stakes winner for Queen Anne hero Haradasun

HARADASUN, winner of the 2008 Queen Anne Stakes for Aidan O'Brien, sired his first stakes winner on Saturday when Kabayan took the Group 2 ATC Stan Fox Stakes at Rosehill in Australia.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained gelding, a homebred for Gooree Stud, was beaten a short head in the Group 1 T J Smith Stakes last season as a two-year-old. He is from the first crop of Haradasun, who stands at Coolmore in Australia for A$16,500.

Kabayan is the first foal out of the Don Eduardo mare Tarlaquena, a New Zealand-bred three-quarter sister to Group 3 winner Matras.

His victory pushed Haradasun into second behind Casino Prince on the leading Australian second season sires' list.

Haradasun was a top-class and tough performer in his native Australia, winning the Group 1 AJC Doncaster Stakes and Group 1 STC George Ryder Stakes for Tony Vasil. A 50 per cent share in the son of Fusaichi Pegasus was sold to Coolmore in late 2007 and he was subsequently transferred to Aidan O'Brien, who saddled him to defeat Darjina in the Queen Anne Stakes.
