First reported foals for Shadwell's Mawatheeq

THE first reported foal by Nunnery Stud's Champion Stakes runner-up Mawatheeq isa bay colt born at Brookside Stud out of Tanwir, a relation to 1,000 Guineas winner Harayir who is already the dam of the Group 3-placed Sakheart.

Other foals from the first crop of Mawatheeq include fillies out of the Listed-placed Fantastic Santanyi and Okba, a Diesis relation to Mawatheeq. The latter was reported by owner Derek Veitch to be a "smart 2yo type, very correct, with a good walk and healthy", and "not small for a first foal".

Another filly born in Ireland, a daughter of the Listed-placed Daffodil Walk is reported to be "a good size, with plenty of quality for a first foal".

Shadwell Stud sent 12 mares to Mawatheeq in his first season, four of whom havefoaled including Nasheed, a Listed-winning half-sister to Sakhee who is the dam of the Group 3-placed Tamazug.

So far, all of Mawatheeq's first reported foals are bay.

A Danzig half-brother to 1,000 Guineas heroine Ghanaati from the immediate family of Nashwan and Nayef, Mawatheeq won the Cumberland Lodge Stakes and ran second to Twice Over in the Champion Stakes at Newmarket.

He stands at Nunnery Stud for £5,000.
