Eskendereya: his first reported foal is a daughter of Graded stakes performer Trendy LadyPICTURE: Adam Coglianese
First reported foal by Eskendereya born
THE first reported foal by Grade 1 winner Eskendereya is a dark bay or brown filly who was born around 8pm on Friday at Mr Lynn Alexander's Alastar in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
Bred by Alastar Thoroughbred Company, LLC, the filly is out of the Unbridled's Song mare Trendy Lady, who was a Graded stakes-placed performer on the track. Trendy Lady was purchased by Alastar carrying the filly at last year's Keeneland November Sale for $150,000.
Ramona Good, farm manager at Alastar, said of the foal: "She is a tall, long-legged and scopey filly. Intelligent."
Eskendereya was the highest-rated three-year-old on dirt in 2010 by the World Thoroughbred Rankings thanks tohis nine-and-a-half victory in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial and eight-and-a-half length success in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes.
Injury prevented his participation in the 2010 Kentucky Derby and the son of Giant's Causeway retired undefeated on dirt with career earnings of $725,700.
The five-year-old, who is a half-brother to former Tara Stud resident Balmont, covered 137 mares in his first season at stud in 2011.
Eskendereya stands at Taylor Made Farm in Kentucky for $22,500 payable on November 1, or $25,000 stands and nurses.
