First New Zealand-bred winner for Sir Percy

DERBY hero Sir Percy sired his first winner in Australasia on Monday when two-year-old That's Where It Is won at Waimate in New Zealand for trainers Paul and Kris Shailer.

The colt hails from the first southern hemisphere-bred crop of his sire, bred when he shuttled to Rich Hill Stud in New Zealand.

His victory came just hours after Sir Percy sired his first winner in Hong Kong, Percy Jackson. The three-year-old, who incidentally was Sir Percy's first winner overall before running stakes-placed in Germany, won over a mile under top weight at Sha Tin.

Sunday's action also saw Sir Percy represented by his 32nd European first crop winner when Farangis scored at Munich in Germany.

To date, Sir Percy has sired nine stakes performers from his first European crop including Group 3 winner Alla Speranza and Listed scorers Bomar and Coquet.

The son of Mark Of Esteem, who was saddled by Marcus Tregoning to win the Dewhurst Stakes and Derby, stood the past season at Lanwades Stud for £6,000.
