First foals for Big Brown and Majestic Warrior
BIG BROWN, the winner of seven of his eight starts including the first two legs of the US Triple Crown, has had his first reported foal. The filly is out of an unraced Seeking The Gold mare named Impressive Attire, herself out of the multiple Grade 1 winner Sharp Cat. She was born on January 12 at Swifty farms, Indiana.
Big Brown's only defeat came in the Belmont Stakes, where he was virtually pulled up as a long odds-on favourite, a race in which a win would have sealed the Triple Crown. He retired with career earnings of $3,614,500.
He is by Danzig's son Boundary out of a Nureyev mare, making him inbred 3x3 to Northern Dancer, and he is also inbred 3x4 to Damascus. Available for 2010is $55,000, his fee was reduced slightly from an initial $65,000 last year.
Another first foal is that of Majestic Warrior, winner of the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes over 7f. Majestic Warrior is by A.P. Indy, and the filly foal is out Express Chick, by Hennessy, and owned by Anne Paulson. His fee for 2010 is $15,000, though he commanded $20,000 in his first season at stud.
