Authorized: the 2007 Derby winner has his first foals on the ground

First foals by Authorized and Teofilo born

THE first foals by Authorized and Teofilo, new recruits to the Darley stallion roster last year, have been born.

Tuesday saw the arrival of a bay colt by Authorized out of Hesmond Stud's winning mare Circle Of Love, a daughterof Lupe Stakes heroine Claxon and a half-sister to Group 1-placed Cassydora and last year's Listed winner Classic Remark.

The foal was born at The National Stud. Brian O'Rourke, the stud's managing director, described him as "a nice foal".

On the same day another bay colt by Authorized was born at Kildangan Stud. The foal is out of Prince Faisal's mare Sharp Mode, whose dam is a half-sister to Elmaamul and Reams Of Verse. He is described by Darley as "a decent foal, with size and bone."

Authorized covered 40 Group winners or producers in his first season at Dalham Hall, including the Group 1 winners Wannabe Grand, Zee Zee Top and Cerulean Sky, and the dams of eight Group 1 winners. He embarks on his second season at Kildangan Stud for a fee of €25,000.

Teofilo: first foal "a very good colt"

On Wednesday the first foal of unbeaten championtwo-year-old Teofilo arrived at Ennistown Stud in Co. Meath, Ireland. The bay colt is out of the King's Best mare Miss Dela, a half-sister to Group 3 winner Governor Brown.

Ennistown Stud owner Ruairi O'Coileain said: " He is a very good colt – we are very pleased with him." Miss Dela will be covered by Teofilo again this season.

Teofilo, who will stand his second season for €25,000 at Kildangan Stud, covered 43 Group winners or producers including the dams of Dubai Millennium, Pride and Sixties Icon last year.
