First foal for record purchase My Typhoon

MY TYPHOON, a Giant's Causeway half-sister to Galileo who became the most expensive filly foal ever sold at public auction when making 1,800,000gns at Tattersalls in 2002, has given birth to her first foal.

The new arrival is a colt by Breeders' Cup Classic winner Awesome Again, and was born on January 30. The mare, who is still owned by her original purchaser Live Oak Stud, will be covered by Distorted Humor this year.

My Typhoon is out of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Urban Sea, who has also produced Group 1 winner Black Sam Bellamy, Oaks runner-up All Too Beautiful and last season's Beresford Stakes winner Sea The Stars among eight black-type performers.

She was trained by Bill Mott to win nine of her 19 career starts, including the Grade 1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga in 2007.
