First European stakes winner for Fastnet Rock
SEA SIREN, a triple Group 1 winner in Australia, displayed a fine turn of foot to win the Listed Belgrave Stakes at Fairyhouse on Sunday and becomes the first European stakes winner for her sire Fastnet Rock.
Making her debut for Aidan O'Brien, Sea Siren broke well and travelled smoothly before being produced down the outside to run out a cosy winner.
The four-year-old Australian-bred filly is one of 13 top-level winners sired by Coolmore's shuttler Fastnet Rock, who commands a fee of A$275,000 down under, which makes him A$100,000 dearer than the second most expensive stallion in Australia Redoute's Choice.
Fastent Rock, a son of Danehill, was an outstanding sprinter in Australia for trainer Paul Perry, winning twice at the highest level in the Lightning Stakes and Oakleigh Plate.
There is plenty of speed throughout Sea Siren's pedigree - close relatives include Australian Group 1-winning sprinter Hold That Smile and Group 2-winning filly Lady Dehere.
