Sakhee's Secret: July Cup winner could be represented by Deepest Blue in the Brocklesby Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday

First-crop sire runners on show at Doncaster

RUNNERS from the first crops of Sakhee's Secret and Thousand Words are among the19 five-day entries for the Brocklesby Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday.

The 5f event has attracted entries from the leading yards of Richard Hannon, Mick Channon and Mark Johnston, the latter of whom has entered two colts including Skytrain, a son of Exceed And Excel who cost €70,000 at Arqana last August.


Sakhee's Secret's entry, the Jamie Osborne-trained Deepest Blue, was sold for 40,000gns to Amanda Skiffington at the Tattersalls October Sale. He is the second foal out of the winning Desert Prince mare Midnight Sky.

July Cup winner Sakhee's Secret stands at Whitsbury Manor Stud.

Thousand Words could be represented by Mick Channon's Perfect Words, a colt bred by his sire's base, Rathasker Stud, out of juvenilewinner Zilayah, by Zilzal.

Pat Eddery, who trained Hearts Of Fire to win this race in 2009, could send out Marvelino, a first runner for Group 2-winning two-year-old Captain Marvelous, while Stan Moore's entries include Marchwood, a first entry for high-class sprinter Assertive.

At Kempton, the 5f fillies' maiden could feature a first runner for St Leger winner Sixties Icon. The filly in question, Vanessa,  was bred by Mick Channon in partnership with Norman Court Stud, which stands thestallion.
