Sakhee's Secret: July Cup winner represented by Deepest Blue in today's Brocklesby Stakes at Doncaster

First-crop sire runners declared for Doncaster

RUNNERS from the first crops of Sakhee's Secret and Thousand Words will be bidding to get their sires off to the perfect start in their second careers this afternoon when lining up in the Brocklesby Stakes at Doncaster (3.50).

A number of Britain's leading yards are represented, including that of Mark Johnston, who is represented by Heavy Metal, a son of Exceed And Excel and South African 6f Grade 1 winner Rock Opera.


Sakhee's Secret is represented by the Jamie Osborne-trained newcomer Deepest Blue. Agent Amanda Skiffington parted with 40,000gns at the Tattersalls October Sale to secure the colt, who is the second foal out the winning Desert Prince mare Midnight Sky.

July Cup winner Sakhee's Secret stands at Whitsbury Manor Stud.

Thousand Words, who stands at Rathasker Stud, is represented by the Mick Channon-trained Perfect Words, who is out of the 7f juvenile winner Zilayah.

Pat Eddery, who sent out Hearts Of Fire to win this race in 2009, is running Marvelino, a first runner for the Group 2-winning juvenile Captain Marvelous. Marvelino, who Eddery acquired for £13,000 at the Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale, is a half-brother to two winners, including the two-year-old scorerBrave Dream.

Sixties Icon, winner of the 2006 St Leger, has his first runner in the 5f fillies' maiden at Kempton (1.50). The filly in question, Vanessa, was bred by Mick Channon in conjunction with Norman Court Stud, which stands the stallion.
