THE first Racing Post Yearling and Breeze-up Bonuses are heading to Scandinavia after Karakorun, a daughter of Kheleyf, broke her maiden on Sunday.

Owner Mark Elsborg will receive £15,000 since the filly is eligible for both the yearling and breeze-up bonuses. Trainer Bent Olsen purchased Karakorun from Willie Slattery's Meadowview Stables for £15,000 at the DBS Breeze-up Sale in April. She had been unsold at the previous year's DBS St Leger Sale.

Olsen was complimentary about the bonuses, saying: "These schemes are fantastic. They have brought a new owner into my yard and they now have a nice horse paid for."

Karakorun was selected by Pete Hickey of Tiranga Bloodstock, who said: "These bonus schemes are just fantastic at educing new overseas owners.

"This horse was bought specifically to win the bonuses in Scandinavia and its great for all concerned. Andy and Willy Slattery deserve a great deal of credit for how this filly was prepared for the sale."
