First bonus of 2012
for Mick Channon

CAY Verde stepped up on his debutfifth at Newbury last month to easily take the 5f maiden under Martin Harley at Ascot on Saturday and become Mick Channon's first Racing Post yearling bonus winner of 2012.

Channon and the colt's owners, Box 41, tasted yearling bonus success last June when Shamrocked won at Salisbury.

Bred by Lady Whent, Cay Verde was sold by Catridge Farm Stud for £27,000 to agent Gill Richardson at the DBS Premier Sale.

The son of Bahamian Bounty is a half-brother to dual winner Silenzio and the second foal out of All Quiet, a 7f - 1m winner by Piccolo from the further family of Lady Whent's high-class sprinter Bold Edge.
