First Australian winner for Any Given Saturday

DARLEY'S young shuttler Any Given Saturday was represented by his first Australian winner when two-year-old gelding Saturday Skies won his second start over 1000m at Ascot, Australia, on Wednesday.

His victory opened a productive day for his sire, who was later represented at Lingfield by the maiden winner Samedi.

Bred by Mrs K A Butler of Victoria, Saturday Skies is the first winner out of the Perugino mare Panaromic Skies and from the family stakes winners Razor Blade, Sunburnt Land and Doubtful Jack. He was purchased by Commercial Bloodstock Services for A$30,000 at the 2011 Adelaide Magic Millions Sale.

Any Given Saturday is the sire of 11 first crop winners in the northern hemisphere including the stakes-placed Sunday's Child. The son of Distorted Humor, who was successful in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational, is standing the northern hemisphere at Darley in Kentucky for $15,000.
