Dispersals underpin Perth Autumn sale

THE two-day Magic Millions Perth Autumn Thoroughbred Sale at Belmont Park was dominated by the dispersals of Paul Fitzpatrick and Oakland Park Stud. The top lot was Paul Fitzpatrick's mare Finishing School, who sold to John Chalmers Bloodstock for A$205,000 (£132,005/€149,833) .

The seven-year-old daughter of GrandLodge was sold in foal to Wanted, as was the third-top lot, Moccasin Bend, also from the dispersal which was offered through agent Mogumber Park, knocked down for A$180.000 (£115,909/€131,565) to Belmont Bloodstock Agency.

The sale grossed A$2,733,400 (£1,760,604/€1,998,779), more than treble that of last year, and the market was very polarised, with an average of A$20,247 (£13,041/€14,805) but a median of just $4,000 (£2,577/€2,925). The clearance rate was high at 88 per cent, after 117 of the 135 lots offered were sold.

These sale showed significant increases across the board, with the average up 402 per cent, the median up 150 per cent and the aggregate 259 per cent. Of the top 35 lots, only two were not from one the two major dispersals.
