Saratoga sale-topper makes winning debut

FIGHTING Brave, last year's $2m Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale-topper, made an impressive winning debut over 7f at Dundalk on Sunday.

The two-year-old son of Storm Cat, who is trained by Aidan O'Brien on behalf of Derrick Smith, hit the front less than a furlong out in the ten-runnermaiden, yet still drew away to win by one-and-three-quarter lengths.

Ben Walden, Philip J. Steinberg et al bred the colt out of the Mr Prospector mare Get Lucky. From 11 other foals of racing age, the Grade 3 winner has produced sevenwinners including Grade 2 winner Daydreaming, Grade 3 winner Accelerator and She's A Winner, who is the dam of Haskell Invitational winner Bluegrass Cat.

M. V. Magnier signed the ticket at $2m for the colt at Saratoga last year. His yearling brother realised $650,000 to Baccari Bloodstock at this year's renewal of the sale.
