Fastnet Rock colt
shines at Magic Millions

THE second session of the Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale saw the aggregate hit A$8,351,000 (£4,629,506/€5,377,015) and the combined average reach A$41,547 (£23,025/€26,751) for 201 horses sold.

So far, the aggregate and average are 21 and six per cent ahead of that recorded at the same stage last year. The clearance rate is 78 per cent.

Thursday's proceedings were topped by a son of Coolmore's newest Irish recruit Fastnet Rock, who was snapped up by Denise Martin and Gai Waterhouse of Star Thoroughbreds for A$180,000 (£100,022/€115,836).

"I love the Fastnet Rocks," said Martin. "He's such a young, hot sire and until now it's been difficult to securea nice one.

"Gai and Greg (Nash, vet) thought he was one of the top picks of the sale. He has everything pointing toward him being a runner."

Consigned by Kambula Stud, the colt is the third foal out of the unraced Snippets mare Munchies, a half-sister to the Listed-placed Happens.
