Median increases at
F-T Texas Breeze-Up

THE average held steady and the median increased during the one-day Fasig-Tipton Texas Two-Year-Old Sale atLone Star Park on Tuesday.

Although the aggregate dropped four per cent to $2,371,000, the 139 horses that sold averaged $17,064, which represented a minor increase 0.8 per cent. The median gained nine per cent to $10,500 while the clearance rate improved minimally to 72 per cent.

A Louisiana-bred son of leading Texas sire Valid Expectations from the family of Kentucky Derby second Closing Argument topped the sale, selling for $100,000 to Jerry Durant. Pike Racing consigned the colt, who cost $40,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton Texas Summer Yearling Sale.

Coteau Grove Farms went to $90,000 for the second highest-priced two-year-0ld, a first crop son of Grade 2 winner Ruler's Court.
