Fasig-Tipton releases Saratoga sale catalogue

A GALILEO filly out of a Group 3-placed sister to Rock Of Gibraltar is one of the highlights of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale in New York  on August 6 and 7. Fasig-Tipton has catalogued 189 yearlings for it flagship sale, up 18 per cent from the corresponding catalogue of last year.

Other catalogue highlights include a brother to top sprinter Street Boss, a Street Cry half-brother to champion Invasor, a Medaglia d'Oro daughter of turf champion Wait A While and a Giant's Causeway brother to Fillies Mile third Dreamtheimpossible out of the Breeders' Cup Distaff heroine Spain.

"The solid returns from 2011 have been rewarded by significantly increased numbers and quality to Saratoga from our traditional client base and from new sellers at the Spa," said Fasig-Tipton
President Boyd Browning.

"The Saratoga Sale is moving on a very positive course right now," Browning added. "This year's catalogue features an outstanding group of yearlings with depth of pedigree, by a wide variety of the world's leading sires."

"A recent independent industry survey shows the sale ranked #1 by percentage of Grade 1 stakes-winners and #1 by percentage of stakes-winners among North American yearling sales. The victory of 2010 Saratoga graduate Union Rags in this year's Belmont Stakes further enhances the reputation of a sale which has been at the forefront of racing for almost a century."

Last year's sale saw 103 yearlings sell for a total of $32,892,000 and average of $319,340, which was up 16 per cent from 2010. A Bernardini half-brother to American Horse of the Year Havre De Grace, later named Brabbham, topped the sale when selling to John Ferguson for $1.2 million.
