Fasig-Tipton pushes back juvenile select sale

THE Fasig-Tipton Florida Select Two-year-olds in Training Sale at the Palm Meadows Training Centre in Florida hasbeen pushed back by three weeks to March 26. The breeze will take place on March 23.

The moves means that the sale will be the third major American breeze-up auction of the year following the OBS March Select Sale on March 13 - 14 andBarrets March Select Sale on March 20. This year, the Fasig-Tipton sale opened the juvenile auction season on March 3.

"After our inaugural sale there (Palm Meadows) last year, our buyers and consignors alike gave very high marksto the facilities and location of Palm Meadows, and we loved the enthusiasm for the project from the entire team there," said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning.

"There has been a steady shift over the last few years in most 2-year-old racing programmes, with the tracks pushing back juvenile races to later dates in their calendars. Finding a window for our sale in late March is a logical move to reflect these circumstances. We will also move the sale from a Thursday spot to a Monday, which allows us to avoid any conflicts with live racing at Gulfstream Park."
