Family boost for Oscar Whisky in Ayrhurdle

WHEN you have a live contender for a big-race at Cheltenham, any positive omen that manifests itself in the build-up will be gratefully seized upon.

That is why Ffos Las supremo Dai Walters may have taken great heart from the result of the Bacardi Originals Maiden Hurdle at Ayr.

It saw Grade 2 Irish bumper winner Drumbaloo land his first success over hurdles and encouragingly for Walters  the seven-year-old is out of a half-sister to his Champion Hurdle hope Oscar Whisky.

Drumbaloo, a son of Imperial Commander's sire Flemensfirth, has passed through the sales ring four times, but his most recent appearance saw him led out unsold at£34,000 at the 2009 Brightwells January sale at Cheltenham. On the previous three occasions he had  made an aggregate of €17,500.
