Ludlow: first chase winner for stallion Fahris

LUDLOW'S Charity Day on 21 April Novices' Chase on Thursday went to Fahrisee, the only winner produced by Feilden and Select Stakes winner Fahris. By Generous and out of a sister to Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Flash Of Steel, Fahris was a 12-1 chance in the Epsom Derby, finishing sixth behind Benny The Dip and Silver Patriarch.

He won four races in Britain, including A Group 3 and two Listed races at up to 1m2f before racing in the US as a five-year-old where he one once over 1m4f in Kentucky.

Fahris died at Ballyvolane Stud in 2009 aged 15. He has had just six runners in Britain and Ireland to date. Ballyvolane offered Fahrisee at the Tattersalls Ireland November sale, where Rathmore Stud paid €16,000 for him. He was a 100-1 winner of a Hereford novice hurdle last season.
