First for Springfield House Stud foaling unit
A HALF-SISTER to Dual Classic Winner Cockney Rebel has become the first mare to foal this year at Springfield House Stud's new foaling unit outside Roscrea in County Tipperary.
Louverissa, a daughter of Verglas, produced a filly foal by Medicean.
Springfield House Stud bred last year's Group 2 Railway Stakes winner Formosina from the first crop of foals from the farm.
Springfield House Stud is managed by Reddy Coffey and Linda Fitzsimons and is a new division of Oak Lodge Stud in Naas, which is managed by Louise and Linda Fitzsimons and was where dual Classic winner Cockney Rebel was bred.
Springfield House Stud are currently offering a foaling deal of €250 which includes foaling fee and ten days keep and free pick up within 25 miles of the farm.
Coffey said: "We understand that minimising cost is paramount to producing bloodstock in the current economic climate and that is whywe believe breeders are supporting us with their business.
"We are ideally situated to service the bloodstock industry being just off the M7 just outside Roscrea and a 35 minute drive from Kildare town."
Meanwhile, Oak Lodge USA, another division of Oak Lodge Stud managed by Alan and Suzy Fitzsimons, bred their first winner when Birdie Beats Par won recently at the Fair Grounds in Louisiana. Birdie Beats Par was sold by Oak Lodge USA for $90,000as a foal.
Oak Lodge Stud was founded in 1980 by Pat and Claire Fitzsimons.
