Half-sister to Goldikova makes winning debut

GALIKOVA, a half-sister to ten-time Group/Grade 1 winner Goldikova, made a winning debut at Longchamp on Saturday.

The daughter of Galileo started at 9-5 joint-favourite on the PMU in the 1m race for debutantes. Ridden by Olivier Peslier, she beat Shamardanse by one and a half lengths to take the Prix de la Cascade.

Goldikova's handler Freddie Head trains the filly, who holds an entry in the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac.

Bred and owned by the Wertheimer family, Galikova is the 12th foal of Born Gold, out of Prix Saint-Alary winner Riviere D'Or.

Herself a 1m winner at four, Born Gold also produced Group 3 winners Gold Sound and Gold Round, and has a full-brother to Goldikova, by the now deceased Anabaa, who was born earlier this year.

It is the first time that Born Gold has visited a son of Sadler's Wells although she had a daughter by the great sire himself in 2004.
