Excelebration heads Coolmore 2013 recruits

DOMINANT Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner Excelebration heads the quartet of newcomers to the Coolmore roster for 2013. The son of Exceed And Excel, who also won the Prix du Moulin and Prix Jacques le Marois, will start his stud career at €22,500, making him the dearest newcomer to Coolmore in 2013.

In all, 24 stallions will stand at Coolmore next season led by champion sire Galileo, who remains private for the sixth consecutive season. Galileo is on course to record his fourth leading British and Irish sires' championship following a season in which he sired nine Group/Grade 1 winners including Frankel and Nathaniel. The 2012 season was also one which saw him confirm his status as one of Europe's most exciting sire of sires.

Also listed as 'private' is Australian champion sire Fastnet Rock, whose first northern hemisphere crop races next year.

Joining Excelebration as a new addition to the 2013 line-up is Henrythenavigator, a top two leading first-crop sire in both Europe and America who has spent the past four seasons at Ashford Stud in Kentucky. The Classic-winning son of Kingmambo has been priced at €30,000 following the success of his first crop, which includes the winners of the Phoenix Stakes and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, Pedro The Great and George Vancouver.

Champion So You Think, whose stint with Aidan O'Brien resulted in six Group 1 victories, will stand for €17,500 while the Irish 2,000 Guineas and National Stakes hero Power enters stud at €12,500.

The fast Group 2-winning juvenile Requinto will stand for €5,000.

Of last year's Irish line-up, only Holy Roman Emperor, sire of the recent seven-length Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Morandi in addition to this year's 1,000 Guineas heroine Homecoming Queen, has been handed a fee increase: he rises from €12,500 to €20,000.

This year's roster also features the return of Choisir. The son of Danehill Dancer remained in Australia this season but has enjoyed a good year in Europe courtesy of the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Olympic Glory and high-class sprinter Monsieur Joe. He is priced at €10,000.
