Empire Maker fillies popular at Keeneland

CLEAR Sailing, a member of the Overbrook dispersal, topped the eighth session of the Keeneland November Sale in Kentucky when selling for $255,000 to Larry Richardson on behalf of Coteau Grove.

The three-year-old daughter of Empire Maker, who is out of a three-parts sister to Grade 2 winner and sire Jump Start, was sold as a racing or broodmare prospect.

Daughters of Empire Maker swept the top three places of Tuesday's session with Freyer Bloodstock going to $180,000 to secure Passiflora, an unraced filly out of a stakes-placed sister Danehill, and Eamon Cleary paying $105,000 for Ruby's Realm, a half-sister to Grade 2 winner Strut The Stage.

Keeneland reported that 241 horses sold during Tuesday's session for a total of $4,902,600, which was down 12 per cent from the comparable day last year, and an average of $20,343, which was a decrease of 30 per cent. The median fell 41 per cent to $13,000.
