Strong Suit - Royal Ascot 15.06.10

Elzaam is caught by Strong Suit in the Coventry Stakes

  PICTURE: EDWARD WHITAKER

Rahy colt Strong Suit a Coventry Stakes ace

RAHY colt Strong Suit got up in the dying strides to deny Redoute's Choice a first British Group winner.

Pinhooked as a foal by Mags O'Toole at Keeneland for $27,000, Strong Suit was resold to Peter Doyle at the DBS St Leger Yearling Sale for £40,000.

He is the fifth foal of his unraced dam Helwa, herself by Silver Hawk, and he is a brother to 1m1f winner Naseehah. Helwa's granddam is a sister to the champion mare and producer in the US, Personal Ensign.

The runner-up, Michael Jarvis-trained Elzaam, is an Australian-bred son of Redoute's Choice who was foaled in January so he could compete as a juvenile in Europe.
